We don't use the word "sustainable" lightly. It's been co-opted by brands that plant one tree per purchase and call it progress. That's not sustainability. That's marketing.
Sustainable: We don't use it. Here's why, and what we do instead. You can decide what to call it.
Vetted twice. For your cat and for everything else.
Every material we use is vetted twice: once for what it does to your cat, and once for what it does to everything else.
Our catnip is responsibly sourced. That matters more than it sounds. Catnip goes directly into your cat's mouth, onto their face, into their system. The sourcing conversation for something a cat actively ingests is not the same conversation as the one for a fabric. We treat it differently. We know exactly where it comes from and exactly how it was grown.
If we cannot source something responsibly, we do not make the product. This has meant not making products. We are at peace with that.

Direct relationships. Not managed distances.
Our manufacturing partners are not factories we found, contracted, and check in on annually. They are independent factories we have built long-standing relationships with, chosen because they operate the way we want to operate and have done so consistently, not because they were the most efficient option on a sourcing sheet.
We work with them directly. No intermediaries sitting between us and the people who make the things. This means we know what is happening in the facilities. It means the people in those facilities know they can tell us if something is wrong. It means when something changes, we hear about it before it becomes a problem rather than after it becomes a headline.
We audit regularly. Not through a third party we commissioned once and then framed the certificate. We maintain actual relationships, which is slower and more expensive and the only way we know how to do it properly.
We are not interested in certifications as a substitute for accountability. Certifications are a starting point. What you do after you get them is the part that matters.
Direct. Always.
No intermediaries between us and the people who make the things. Long-standing relationships with independent factories chosen for how they operate, not how cheaply they quote.
Paid fairly. Full stop.
That sentence should not be remarkable in 2026. Here we are writing it anyway, because the industry still requires it to be said explicitly.
Audited. Regularly.
Certifications are a starting point. What you do after you get them is the part that matters. We audit through actual relationships, not framed documents.
Recycled. Recyclable. Minimal.
All of our plastic is recycled. Not a percentage of it, not the plastic in certain product lines. All of it. This is not a headline we are saving for a campaign. It is a condition of how we operate and it applies across the board.
We do not wrap products in three layers of tissue paper for the unboxing experience. Your cat will be inside the box within four seconds of it being opened and will remain there for the rest of the afternoon. The box is fine. The box is, in fact, the highlight.
100% recycled plastic
All plastic used across all product lines. Not a percentage. Not a select range. All of it, all of the time.
Recyclable throughout
Every element of our packaging can be recycled. We don't mix materials in ways that make it difficult to separate. That's deliberate.
Minimal by design
No excessive tissue paper. No unboxing theatre. The packaging does its job and nothing else. Your cat is going to sit in the box regardless.
We track it. We offset it. We publish it.
Footprint report, updated Q1 2026. Numbers updated every quarter. Progress and shortfalls both shown.
We track our footprint. We offset what we currently cannot eliminate. We publish the numbers.
Not because publishing the numbers makes us virtuous. It does not. Transparency is not virtue, it is a precondition for trust, and we would like to be trusted.
The numbers are on the reporting page. They are updated quarterly. They show the progress and they show what isn't moving fast enough. We think you should be able to see both.

The honest truth
No brand is fully clean.
Shipping exists. Manufacturing has impact. The supply chain between a raw material and a finished product that arrives at your door involves more carbon, more water, and more human labour than any of us fully reckon with.
We are not the exception to this. We are trying to be a better version of it.
Progress over perfection. Transparency over performance. These are not values we selected in a workshop. They are the only approach that makes sense when you are building something named after an animal who deserved better than she got, in a world that is not currently set up to give animals what they deserve.
That is the deal.
Progress over perfection
We are not the exception to the supply chain problem. We are trying to be a better version of it.
Transparency over performance
Transparency is not virtue. It is a precondition for trust. We publish what works and what doesn't.
